Survivor: Nicaragua Winner Revealed

Spoiler Alert: The following reveals the winner of Sunday night’s Survivor: Nicaragua finale.

After 39 days of sparse food and bad weather, Survivor: Nicaragua came down to the final five competitors. In a season that started out with old versus young, older players Dan Lembo and Holly Hoffman remained against Chase Rice, Matthew “Sash” Lenahan and Jud “Fabio” Birza.

The first player voted out during the two-hour finale was Dan. After Fabio won the immunity challenge, the Tribal Council vote came down to Dan and Holly.

The second player to go was Holly. After Fabio won his third immunity challenge in a row, he, Sash and Chase banded together to vote out the final woman and the final original member of the Espada tribe.

In front of the jury, both Chase and Sash’s many alliances, and subsequently many broken alliances, came back to haunt them. Multiple members of the jury targeted Chase and Sash specifically and largely ignored Fabio, if only because he made so few enemies in the game.

Survivor’s Jane on her “crushing blow”

In the finale’s live part Sunday night, Jeff Probst announced that Fabio was the sole survivor and the $ 1 million winner. The 21-year-old student from Venice, Calif., beat out Chase, a 24-year-old pro race car jackman from Fairview, N.C., by one vote.

Sash, the 30-year-old real estate broker from New York came in third. The vote followed the predictions of TVGuide.com readers: A plurality of 44 percent had Fabio winning.
