Tommy Tuberville would be a slam dunk A+ hire for the Hurricanes. He served as an assistant for the ‘Canes from 1986-1994 and won three national titles. He has had a lot of success everywhere he went, at Ole Miss from 1995-98, at Auburn from 1999-2008 where he led the Tigers to an undefeated season in 2004 and a Sugar Bowl victory, and is now the coach at Texas Tech.
Tuberville has said he is not a candidate for the job but he has interviewed with Miami and his friends say he is interested. Call me crazy but you’d be nuts to turn down the Miami job to stay at Texas Tech. Miami would be able to double his salary from $ 1.5 million to $ 3 million and that is a place he could win a national championship at.
Al Golden and Randy Edsall would be good hires, but Tuberville would be an outstanding hire. He has a big name, is a strong recruiter, has had a lot of national success, and had a lot of success as an assistant at The U before. What’s not to like?
