Lee Corso lost his head for a while there. In fact, it was stolen by some ruffians in Corvalis over the weekend.
We’re talking, of course, about the giant Lee Corso mascot head that was stolen by a couple of University of Oregon students before Saturday’s Civil War showdon between the Oregon Ducks and Oregon State Beavers. Did you think we were talking about his real head?
In any case, you can rest easy. CBS News reported a couple days ago that the giant head has been found. The thieves stashed it about 25 miles away from the Oregon State campus after they decided that it probably wasn’t a good idea to keep it after all. I guess they didn’t know that it’s worth an estimated $ 5,000.
Two men have since been apprehended for the crime, and arrangements have been made to return the head to ESPN, for whom Corso works as a college football analyst.
