An ice storm in the area has caused the cancellation of flights at the Dallas Fort Worth International airport. The low temperatures and high winds pose a great danger for flights as runways are extremely slippery.

Airport crews were in charge of treating the runways or roadways that have been affected by the extreme weather in the area in the early hours of Tuesday.
According to DFW Airlines, of the total of 850 scheduled departures for today, 300 of them have been cancelled. Airport officials are expecting to reopen the airport in the next two hours, until conditions are better. Some flights have been cancelled not only because of bad weather in the area but also because of weather conditions in the Midwest and Northeast.
